Each day, students attend four instructional music periods of one hour each. During music periods, the instruction will focus on rehearsing in a full group setting, rehearsing in instrumental sectionals within the group, preparing small ensemble repertoire, and receiving special master classes on the student's specific instrument or vocal range.
In addition, students attend a concert by various faculty members each evening. This is an opportunity to hear professional musicians making music at another level. The students are quite amazed to realize the practising which the faculty does while the students are having their "rec" time. These concerts feed the soul and encourage students to reach beyond their grasp. They are also hands-on learning experiences in the expectations of a listener. The importance of being a good audience is always evident when the students find themselves, later in the week, on the other side of the stage lights!
